The Governor's Office State of Emergency

The Governor’s Office has recently made changes to the State of Emergency that relaxes Return to Work limitations for substitute teachers.

Please be aware that these modifications specifically apply only to pensioners who return to work in a substitute teaching position for a school district or charter school and for the finite time period that this portion of the Governor’s State of Emergency is in place. We do not currently have details regarding what that time period will be.

The primary modification will be the reduction of the required six month separation to one month separation. Additionally, any wages earned as a substitute teacher during this period will not accrue toward the $30,000 2022 calendar year earnings limit.

Pensioners returning to work in any position other than substitute teacher are still required to adhere to the current restrictions which can be viewed by clicking this link.
