State of Delaware Office of Pensions
Several pieces of legislation have been signed by the Governor that enables employees in specific positions to retire at twenty-five (25) years of pension creditable service without a reduction. These employees will pay an additional employee contribution rate of 2% and those employees that continue to work beyond 25 years of pension credited service will have a multiplier of 2.45% used for the years in excess of 25 years. These employees must have acquired at least 20 years of pension credited service within specific Job Codes. Specific Job Code listings outlining the effective dates of retirement can be accessed through links at the bottom of this page.
In addition, the latest legislation (House Bill 43) enables Department of Correction employees to retire with the higher multiplier of 2.45% for the years in excess of 25 years if they previously acquired the 20 years of pension credited service within a specified Job Code.
If currently employed in a specified Job Code, the Comprehensive Annual Statement will reflect the Pension Creditable Service toward the required 25 years and the additional calculation using the higher multiplier of 2.45%, if vested.
